Dental Care Checklist for People With Crowns, Bridges or Implants

If you’ve invested in crowns, bridges or implants, they deserve special care. They don’t decay in the same way as natural teeth—but the surrounding gums and supporting bone still can get into trouble.

Daily checklist:

  • Brush twice a day with a soft brush, paying special attention to where the crown meets the gum.
  • Clean between teeth and under bridges using floss threaders, interdental brushes or water flossers. Food trapped under a bridge is a common cause of bad breath and gum issues.
  • For implants, keep the gum around the implant extra clean; inflammation here can slowly damage bone support.

Avoid using crown or bridge teeth to crack nuts, open packets or chew very hard objects. They’re strong, but not unbreakable.

Regular dental check-ups are even more important when you have this kind of work. The dentist will check bite, margins, any looseness, and how well you’re cleaning areas you can’t easily see.

If a crown suddenly feels high, loose, painful or you notice swelling nearby, don’t ignore it. Early repair can often save the restoration and protect the tooth or implant underneath.

Think of crowns, bridges and implants like expensive gadgets—if you look after them, they serve you comfortably for many years.
